Shall My West Hurt Me?

Out now, for free.

Two men ceaselessly bicker on the last day of their lives. An enslaved woman dreams within herself, in anticipation of her most important hour. An enlisted scribe goes rouge against a crazed master. A sudden revolt throws an array of desperate people—civilian and soldier alike—into chaotic conflict.

Shall My West Hurt Me? is a collection of seven intertwined short stories, all taking place in the newly-acquired territory of New Mexico from 1847 to 1873. In these tales are the horrors of imperial expansion, the joys of innocence, and the unabating march through history told in polyphony. A myriad of backgrounds are featured—from Americans to Hispanos, and indigenous peoples to Mexicans living in the former Santa Fe de Nuevo México province.

This collection is available for free in its entirety, and can be downloaded and read on all major e-readers.
